Dr. Ammar B. Bhandari

Dr. Ammar B. Bhandari is a Research Agronomist at USDA-ARS, Stoneville, MS, USA. He served as an Assistant Professor at Fort Hays State University (FHSU) from 2016 to 2019 and at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (TAMUK) from 2019 to 2021. He earned his B.S. in Horticulture from HICAST, Purbanchal University in 2007, M.S. in Soil Science from South Dakota State University in 2011, and Ph.D. in Agronomy/Soil Science from Kansas State University in 2016.

During his tenure as faculty at FHSU and TAMUK, Dr. Bhandari taught various soil sciences undergraduate and graduate level courses, including Principles of Soil Science, Soil Formation and Classification, Soil Health and Productivity, Soil Fertilizer and Nutrient Management, and Soil and Water Conservation. Additionally, he served as a soil judging coach at TAMUK and received the USDA Kika De Garza HSI Science Fellowship Award in 2021.

Dr. Bhandari’s expertise lies in applying innovative approaches to evaluate management practices, nutrient (macro and micro) and water management, cover crops, soil health, etc., in row crops, including corn, soybean, and cotton. He addresses complex agroecosystem issues through field studies, computer simulation models, and geospatial techniques.
