Dr. Sukanta Kumar Sarangi is serving as the Head, Division of Agricultural Technologies for Women, ICAR-CIWA, Bhubaneswar. He has completed his Ph.D in Agronomy – Agroecosystem, Advances in Agronomy, Advances in Soil Fertility Management, Advanced Soil from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi (2003), M.Sc. Agriculture from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar (1993). Prior joining to ICAR-CIWA, he worked as a Principal Scientist, ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute (2014-2023), Senior Scientist (20008-2014), Scientist , ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region (2003-2008), and Research Fellow, M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation (2009-2010).

He is the Editor-in-Chief, Journal of the Indian Society of Coastal Agricultural Research; Editor, Indian Journal of Agronomy; Institute Management Committee Member for ICAR-Research Complex for NEH Region for the period 31.03.2020 to 30.03.2023; Member of the Rural Programme Advisory Committee (RAPC) of All India Radio (AIR), Kolkata; Reviewer of several reputed international peer-reviewed journals such as Field Crops Research, Agronomy Journal (American Society of Agronomy), Paddy and Water Environment, Science of the Total Environment, Plant Stress, Environmental Challenges, Open Agriculture, Earth Science Reviews, Sustainability, Agriculture, Agronomy etc.; Successfully completed several foreign aided projects (funded by Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, International Rice Research Institute, International Fund for Agricultural Development, European Commission, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, BMZ, WORLD BANK) as PI/CO-PI and established strong international research collaboration with countries such as Australia, Philippines, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Nepal.
